Adair County road questions route through the County Commission

A gravel-road problem is easier to route after the road layer is clear.

Adair County does not list Road and Bridge as a standalone department in its directory. County road questions route through the County Commission instead — the Commission’s page counts maintenance and repair of roughly 700 miles of roadway and bridges among its duties, posts the county’s Road Maintenance (Rock) Policy, and lists a Road and Bridge phone contact. That helps when a road problem is not clearly a Kirksville city street or a state highway; the name in the mailing address does not automatically tell you who maintains the route.

For a culvert, gravel condition, sign, ditch, or maintenance concern, first sort out whether the road is county, city, state, private, or part of another local setup. That saves a resident from sending a good complaint to the wrong office.
