MO Missouri Porch

Guides

Missouri tax guides for the confusing middle.

Use these when the calculator is not enough and the official page assumes you already know the vocabulary.

Choose by situation

What are you trying to sort?

The right guide depends on the record you need to fix, file, or understand.

Start with the paper in your hand

A bill, value notice, renewal letter, application, or DOR form usually tells you which guide belongs first.

  • Value problem: assessor and appeal evidence.
  • Payment or receipt problem: collector or statement of non-assessment.
  • State credit problem: DOR form and current filing-year instructions.
  • County senior-freeze problem: county adoption, form, deadline, and proof.

Guide questions people ask first

Which guide should I open first?

Open the guide that matches the paper or deadline in front of you: assessment notice, tax bill, senior-freeze application, DOR credit form, or plate-renewal requirement.

Are the county senior freeze and the Property Tax Credit the same thing?

No. The county senior freeze is a local-option property-tax credit. The Missouri Property Tax Credit, often called the circuit breaker, is handled through state income-tax filing.

Who confirms the final answer?

Use the counter that owns the record. Value, payment, state tax forms, and appeal steps can each live in a different place.
