Recorded deed searches are a Recorder task

The County Recorder of Deeds offers online deed search tools, separate from the Assessor's property record and the Collector's tax account.

A parcel lookup can point you to land, but it is not the deed. St. Louis County property research has three common doors: the Assessor for value and assessment records, the Collector for tax accounts and receipts, and the Recorder of Deeds for recorded land documents.

Use the Recorder lane when the question is a deed, lien, or other real estate document. St. Louis County’s online deed search tools include systems such as Laredo, Tapestry, and Monarch, so the right tool may depend on how deep the search needs to go.

A parcel record can help you identify the property. The recorded document itself lives with the Recorder. Keeping those jobs separate saves a lot of wrong-office searching.
