Personal-property filing starts with the assessor e-file

St. Francois County’s assessor page points residents to forms and the county assessor system. The assessor’s e-file page is the practical place to start when the question is the personal-property assessment list, not payment.

The e-file page says to file by March 1 to avoid a potential penalty. That date matters because the tax receipt you may need later starts with what was assessed. Vehicles, trailers, and other taxable personal property are assessment questions first.

If the question is “what was listed?” or “how do I file?” start with the assessor. If the question is “did I pay?” or “where is my receipt?” start with the collector. In a county with several Lead Belt towns, that office split is more useful than guessing by city name.
