Northern Missouri
I-35 is Harrison County's main artery and weather chokepoint
Interstate 35 runs the length of Harrison County to the Iowa line, so it shapes commuting, travel, and winter-storm closures more than any local road.
Interstate 35 runs north-south through Harrison County. It passes Bethany and continues through Eagleville toward the Iowa state line. It is the county’s main long-distance route, and it is a big reason Bethany works as a highway service stop.
The same road can become the county’s weather chokepoint. I-35 crosses open northern Missouri farmland, where winter storms can bring blowing snow, drifting snow, ice, and closures. When the interstate closes, local roads and services can feel it too.
Before traveling in bad weather, check MoDOT’s traveler information map for road conditions, work zones, and winter reports. For long trips, knowing whether I-35 is open at the Iowa line matters as much as the local forecast.
