Boone County keeps courthouse and government-center work downtown
Boone County lists the Roger B. Wilson Government Center and the Boone County Courthouse as separate downtown Columbia locations with different office duties.
Downtown Columbia has two Boone County doorways on Walnut Street, and they do different work. The Roger B. Wilson Boone County Government Center is at 801 E. Walnut. It is the stop for county administration offices such as the assessor, auditor, collector, commission, county clerk, recorder, resource management, and treasurer.
The Boone County Courthouse is nearby at 705 E. Walnut, but it is not the same errand. Court administration, the Circuit Clerk, prosecuting attorney, and public administrator are tied to that building.
The split shows up on small practical days: paying taxes, recording a deed, asking about zoning, or checking an assessment can send you to the Government Center. A court filing or court-related office points to the Courthouse. “Downtown” is the same; the counter is not.
