Downtown Columbia has an official historic-district paper trail
Missouri State Parks' Boone County National Register list includes multiple downtown Columbia buildings and districts, including the Downtown Columbia Historic District.
Downtown Columbia is not only restaurants, campus traffic, and courthouse errands. It also has an official historic-property paper trail.
Missouri State Parks’ Boone County National Register list includes several downtown Columbia buildings and districts. Those include the Downtown Columbia Historic District, North Ninth Street Historic District, Eighth Broadway Historic District, the Missouri Theater, and the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad Depot.
For a buyer, tenant, business owner, or history-minded resident, that list is a useful first stop. It does not answer every permit or preservation question. It does show which older places have an official record. Use the state listing to find the exact property or district, then follow local planning, building, and records sources for current work.
