Lost Valley Fish Hatchery is a public MDC landmark near Warsaw

East of Warsaw, near Highway 65 and the Truman Dam exit, Lost Valley Fish Hatchery gives Benton County a public outdoor anchor that is more than another boat ramp.

The area has glades, prairies, and wooded ground, but the hatchery ponds are the clue that this is a working site. Warm and cool water fish are reared in 77 production ponds. That turns the place from “some MDC land” into a landscape you can actually picture: ponds, service roads, lake-edge rules, and conservation ground all in the same stop.

The water next to the hatchery also ties into Lake of the Ozarks fishing rules, and some uses have special limits. For a visitor, Lost Valley is a reminder that Benton County lake country includes more than private coves, docks, and resort land. For a resident, it adds a state-managed fish-production job to the county’s public-resource identity.
