Northern Missouri
Grant City is the courthouse-square county seat
Grant City is the seat of Missouri's smallest county, where the courthouse square is the hub for assessor, collector, recorder, and county business.
Grant City is the county seat of Worth County. That means it is where the county government does its work. The county seat holds the main offices: the assessor, the collector, the recorder of deeds, and the county commission. If you are new here, this is the handy part. Most county paperwork comes back to the courthouse in Grant City. That includes a deed search (looking up who owns a piece of land) or a personal property account (the record used to tax things like your car). It does not go to a regional office somewhere else. Worth County is small, so the courthouse square also serves as the civic center for the whole county. One trip to Grant City can often cover several errands. Before you make a special trip, check the county government portal for office locations, hours, and what you can do online instead of in person.
