Route 66 runs through Marshfield and Webster County

Historic U.S

Old U.S. Route 66 once ran through the Marshfield area in Webster County. This famous highway connected St. Louis and Springfield. That history is still part of the county’s identity along the old road.

Here is what this means for you. Marshfield sits on a documented stretch of Route 66. A “documented” stretch is one that records confirm. So the older downtown shops and roadside remains come from that era. They are not from the later Interstate 44, which runs nearby.

Want the real story of Route 66 in Missouri? Trust the State Historical Society of Missouri and the National Park Service Route 66 program. Skip the travel blogs. Route 66 was moved several times over the years. So treat any claim about a certain motel, business, or the “oldest” or “original” road as something to check first. Not every old building along the way is a confirmed Route 66 landmark.
