Some Taney County businesses need the collector's merchant license
Some Taney County sellers may need a county merchant license along with state sales-tax registration and any city business license.
Opening or moving a small retail business in Taney County can involve both county and city steps. A Highway 76 shop, a Branson Landing vendor, a Forsyth storefront, and an unincorporated roadside stand may not all have the same license path.
The county merchant license is separate from city business licensing and state sales-tax registration. Keep those buckets apart.
A seller should sort four things before opening: the exact address, whether the site is inside a city, whether the business has a Missouri sales tax number, and whether a Taney County merchant license applies.
Around Branson-area addresses, city and county lines both matter. Confirm the county merchant-license requirement with the collector before you assume a city license covers the whole job.
