Online tax payments do not automatically mail a receipt

Ste. Genevieve County says electronic tax payments do not automatically trigger a mailed receipt, so taxpayers should use the receipt portal or collector.

After an online Ste. Genevieve County tax payment, do not wait by the mailbox for the receipt. Electronic payments do not automatically trigger a mailed tax receipt.

That small detail can matter at plate-renewal time. Missouri license-plate paperwork can require a paid personal-property tax receipt, or a statement of non-assessment when that is the right document. A bank charge may show money left the account, but it is not the same thing as the official tax receipt.

Once the payment is processed, use the county portal to view and print the receipt. If the receipt is not available, contact the collector instead of guessing. For the license-office errand, save the receipt where you can find it before you head out.
