Pickle Springs Natural Area showcases sandstone canyons
Pickle Springs Natural Area sits in the hills west of the Mississippi in Ste. Genevieve County. It is a designated Missouri natural area with sandstone box canyons, hoodoos, arches, small streams, and a loop trail called the Trail Through Time.
This is not a developed city park. MDC manages it to protect unusual geology and plant communities, so visitors should expect a stay-on-the-trail, leave-no-trace setting.
For a resident or visitor, Pickle Springs is one of the county’s clearest geology anchors. It shows the sandstone landscape of southeast Missouri in a way you can actually walk through. Check MDC for trail length, access, hours, and current conditions before heading out.
