St. Charles County tax waivers come from the Assessor
In St. Charles County, a tax waiver means a Certificate of Personal Property Non-Assessment. The county says the certificate indicates, according to county assessment records, that no personal property taxes are due for the person, business, or corporation for the specified tax year. It is required by the Missouri Department of Revenue to license motor vehicles or obtain a business license in St. Charles County.
The local eligibility check starts with the Assessor. St. Charles County says the certificate may be obtained from the Assessor’s Office if you did not own a vehicle in St. Charles County on Jan. 1 of the required tax year. Use the waiver path only when it fits your record; otherwise, the license office will expect paid tax receipt information.
