Northern Missouri
Lake Showme is a Memphis lake with an MDC fishery layer
Lake Showme is one of the outdoor places Scotland County names on its official county website. The Missouri Department of Conservation page gives the local management split: the area is owned and maintained by the City of Memphis, the land around the lake and non-fishing activities are managed by the city, and the fishery is managed by MDC.
MDC lists the area at 225 acres and places it west of Memphis by taking Highway 136 and Lake Showme Drive. The same page points readers to the Wildlife Code chapter that applies to this city-owned area under a cooperative agreement.
For a visitor, the important local fact is who handles which question. Fishing and wildlife rules start with MDC. Land, access, and non-fishing problems start with the City of Memphis.
