Northern Missouri
The county seat is Bowling Green, not the river town of Louisiana
Pike County's most visible town to outsiders is often Louisiana on the Mississippi, but the county seat and courthouse are inland at Bowling Green, so core county business may be in a different town than newcomers expect
If you are new to Pike County, you might think Louisiana is the main town for county business. Louisiana is a river town on the Mississippi. But it is not the county seat. The county seat is Bowling Green. That is a town inland, to the west. The courthouse and the main county offices are there.
So some tasks may mean a trip to Bowling Green. This is true even if your property is in Louisiana, Clarksville, or a smaller town. These tasks include getting your home valued (assessment), filing deeds, paying taxes, or going to court.
Bowling Green is also the home of Champ Clark. He was a Pike County man who later won high national office.
Before you go, call ahead. Ask the county office or court where your task is really handled. Do not just guess it is in the town you know best.
