New Madrid deeds route through the recorder

The New Madrid County Recorder of Deeds records land deeds and offers an online record search, separate from assessor and collector tax records.

For ownership documents in New Madrid County, do not stop at the tax search. The Recorder of Deeds page says the office records land deeds, records military discharges, and issues marriage licenses. It also links to an online record search.

That recorder role is different from the assessor and collector. The assessor values property for taxation. The collector handles billing and payment. The recorder is the place to check recorded instruments such as deeds.

This is useful for a buyer, heir, lender, or neighbor trying to understand what is officially recorded. Start with the recorder’s official page or the linked iRecord search for document records. Use the assessor or collector only when the question is about assessed value, tax accounts, or payment receipts.
