Troy holds the seat as growth pushes outward
Troy is the seat and courthouse town, but Lincoln County's rapid metro-edge growth means services, districts, and traffic patterns are shifting around it.
Troy is the county seat of Lincoln County and the center of its courthouse, county offices, and records. At the same time, Lincoln County has been one of the faster-growing counties on the outer edge of the St. Louis metro, with new subdivisions and commuters spreading out from the Highway 61 corridor. That combination matters for newcomers: the courthouse business stays in Troy, but schools, fire-protection districts, road districts, and water and sewer providers can vary by where you actually live, and growth pressures roads and services. The practical step is to confirm which districts and providers serve a specific address rather than assuming the county or the city of Troy handles everything. The county government portal and the Secretary of State’s references are the anchors for what is incorporated and who governs what.
