Driveways that connect to a county road are supposed to follow the county specifications and driveway permit application. Work within 30 feet of the center of a county road or trail can also pull in county right-of-way procedures.
That shows up with field entrances, culverts, new homes, and land purchases where access is part of the deal. A driveway that sheds water badly can become a road problem for neighbors and county crews.
Before cutting a new entrance onto a county-maintained road, use the county application and ask what review is needed. A city street, subdivision road, or private road may send the same driveway question somewhere else.
