Henry County land records belong with the Recorder of Deeds

Henry County's Recorder of Deeds is the office for land transactions, surveys, subdivision plats, liens, and other recorded documents.

Henry County says the Recorder of Deeds is where land transactions are recorded and kept on file. That makes the recorder the place to start for deeds, surveys, subdivision plats, tax liens, releases, and similar recorded documents.

That is a different job from assessment or tax collection. A tax bill can help identify a parcel, but it does not replace the recorded document trail. If you are checking ownership history, a release, a survey filing, or whether a deed was recorded, start with the Recorder of Deeds.

The county page also notes that Henry County land records start in the 1830s, which is useful context for older farms and family land questions.
