Clinton is the western trailhead of the Katy Trail
Katy Trail State Park is a long-distance rail-trail on the old Missouri-Kansas-Texas railroad corridor. Its western trailhead sits at Clinton in Henry County.
For Clinton, that means being the bookend of a cross-state trail. Riders and walkers may start a multi-day trip east toward the Missouri River, or finish one here. The trailhead also gives local residents a flat, scenic route maintained by Missouri State Parks.
Use Missouri State Parks for the official trailhead location, amenities, detours, and current conditions. Check mileage and open or closed segments there before you plan around them.
It also gives downtown Clinton a practical visitor doorway. A trail user may need parking, water, repairs, food, lodging, or a weather backup before or after the ride.
