Septic work can start with the Gasconade County Health Department

Gasconade County Health Department explains when onsite wastewater permits, soil evaluation, and state application steps are part of a property project.

For Gasconade County rural property, septic questions can be a permitting question before they are a contractor question. The county health department says an onsite wastewater permit is required before construction or major repair of a sewage system for single-family residences on lots less than three acres, for facilities other than single-family residences regardless of lot size, and for certain lake-adjacent lots.

The health department also points to soil morphology evaluators, registered installers, and Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services application steps.

For a buyer or landowner, ask early whether the home uses public sewer or onsite wastewater. If a system is new, repaired, or part of a real-estate question, use the county health department and DHSS sources before relying on a seller’s informal description.
