Noser Mill keeps the Bourbeuse River visible
Noser Mill Conservation Area keeps an old Franklin County mill name beside the Bourbeuse River. The mill itself stood upstream from the public area, but its name stayed on the landscape.
The conservation area covers about 205 mostly forested acres near Beaufort. MDC acquired it from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2015. From the junction of highways 50 and 185, the route follows Highway 185 south toward the river country. The area map and current rules still belong with MDC.
The place story is more durable: a mill name, a forested public tract, and the Bourbeuse all remain tied together. Noser Mill is one small clue that Franklin County’s river geography extends well beyond the Meramec.
