Crawford County commission districts follow north and south lines
Crawford County says its associate commissioners are elected from North and South districts separated by population and natural geographic boundaries.
North District and South District are part of how Crawford County gets local work done, not just labels on a map.
The county commission has one presiding commissioner elected countywide and two associate commissioners elected from those two districts. The split follows population and natural geographic boundaries. On the road side, each associate commissioner is tied to hiring and oversight of the road-district foreman for that district.
So a county road problem near Steelville may begin with the same courthouse, but the follow-up can still run through the district layer. The useful question is simple: is this a countywide issue, or is it tied to the North District or South District road setup?
