Central Missouri / Missouri River Corridor
Cooper County's official map is more than Boonville
Boonville is the county seat and largest community, but it is not Cooper County’s only named place. The county also includes Blackwater, Otterville, Pilot Grove, Prairie Home, Bunceton, the Village of Windsor, Wooldridge, Clifton City, Speed, Pisgah, and Lamine.
The same county overview notes that some communities were shaped by floods and changes in rail travel. It also describes much of Cooper County as prime agricultural land and points to the Katy Trail as a way to see the county’s beauty.
Floods, changes in rail travel, farming, and the Katy Trail connect that network of small places. Cooper County is a river-corridor county, not just Boonville surrounded by unnamed rural space.
