Duplicate personal property receipts come from the Collector

Cole County directs people who have paid personal property taxes to the Collector for duplicate receipts.

A missing receipt is one of those small papers that can stop a license-plate errand cold.

In Cole County, duplicate paid personal-property tax receipts are a Collector question. That office handles the payment record and the proof that taxes were paid. If the taxes are paid and the problem is only the missing proof, the Collector is the right counter.

That is different from changing the vehicle list itself. The Assessor handles what property was assessed. The Collector handles the bill, payment, and receipt after the assessment record exists.

So split the problem first. Need proof for tags, registration, or files? Start with the Collector. Need to fix the vehicle on the account? Start with the Assessor.
