Cole County tax bills arrive late in the year

The Cole County Collector says tax bills are mailed during November and are due by December 31, so not receiving a bill is not a safe excuse.

Late-year tax mail is easy to miss after a move in Cole County.

Tax bills are mailed during November. If a bill has not arrived by the second week in December, the Collector is the office to contact. Waiting quietly can cost money, because not receiving a bill does not remove the duty to pay taxes or late fees.

That timing is useful for new residents, people who changed addresses, and anyone who expects a personal-property bill tied to vehicles or other taxable items. Silence in the mailbox is not the same as a clear account.

Use the Collector or the online tax search before the end of the year, while there is still time to fix an address or account problem.
