Hunting, fishing, and conservation along Clark County's rivers
Clark County's three rivers and their bottomlands support fishing, hunting, and conservation-area access, all governed by state permits and regulations that change by season.
Clark County has a strong outdoor side. Three rivers run through it: the Mississippi, the Des Moines, and the Fox. Along these rivers you can fish the main channels and the quiet backwaters. In the right seasons, you can also hunt in the river corridors. Missouri’s conservation areas are public lands set aside for nature and outdoor use. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) runs these areas. MDC also handles the permits, the public access points, and the open seasons. It is the place to go for what is allowed, where, and when. The rules and the season dates change from year to year. So check each season instead of guessing from last year. On the Mississippi, watch the river level and the barge traffic, which can make boating and fishing tricky. Before you head out, check with MDC for current permits, season dates, and the conservation areas and river access points in and near Clark County.
