Ozark's courthouse square explains the county seat

The Ozark Courthouse Square Historic District ties Christian County's county-seat history to the working courthouse area in Ozark.

Ozark’s courthouse square is a practical way to understand Christian County’s geography. The Missouri State Historic Preservation Office’s National Register form says Ozark was established in 1848 and has served as the county seat since Christian County’s designation in 1859. Christian County’s own location page still points residents to the Historic Courthouse at 100 W. Church Street.

That makes the square more than a historic backdrop. It is the place where county-seat identity and office routing meet.

If an errand sends you to the Historic Courthouse, Justice Center, Resource Management, or another county building, confirm the exact office before driving. The courthouse square is the anchor, but county work is spread across nearby locations.
