Christian County is governed by a three-member commission

Christian County’s fast growth still runs through a plain county-government structure. Since January 1, 2015, Christian County has operated as a first class county without a charter form of government. Its countywide governing body is a three-member commission: one presiding commissioner, one western commissioner, and one eastern commissioner.

A resident may live in Ozark, Nixa, Clever, Sparta, or outside any city at all. Countywide administration, budgets, ordinances, public buildings, and some road priorities still run through this commission layer, while city councils and special road districts handle their own pieces.

The mailing city alone will not tell you who handles a county issue. For a county question, look for the commission district and the county office involved before assuming the nearest city hall is the right counter.
