The Chadwick Flyer turns an old rail bed into an Ozark trail
Ozark's Chadwick Flyer Trail follows the old Chadwick Flyer rail bed, giving Christian County a transportation story people can walk and bike.
The Chadwick Flyer Trail gives Christian County a clean “old route, new use” story. The trail follows the former Chadwick Flyer Railroad bed from Ozark toward Springfield, turning an old travel corridor into a place for walking and biking.
The named pieces make it easier to picture. Completed sections include the Ozark Community Center to Clay Street, Jackson Street underpasses, Biagio Street to 21st Street near Olde World Estates, a Kissick Avenue section in Springfield, and a multimodal bridge over Highway 65.
That is the useful charm here. Christian County is growing fast, but the Chadwick Flyer keeps an older route visible inside the new map. Check Ozark’s trail page for which sections are open, then read the trail as both a recreation path and a reused railroad line.
