A Cass County non-assessment certificate is for no-tax years

Cass County issues non-assessment certificates when no personal property tax was assessed for the prior year, and the certificate can stand in for a paid receipt at vehicle registration.

A missing tax receipt is not always a bill problem; in Cass County it may be a non-assessment problem. The certificate is for a prior year when no personal property tax was assessed, and it can stand in for the paid receipt the license office wants for registration or plate renewal.

Cass routes that errand through the Collector at 2725 Cantrell Road in Harrisonville. The statewide rule points the same direction for a no-property January 1: contact the county assessor so the no-assessment record and the next tax year’s roll are handled.

New Missouri residents, first-vehicle owners, and people who had no taxable personal property need that distinction. A receipt proves taxes paid; a certificate proves there was no assessment for that year.
