Bollinger Mill pairs a mill and covered bridge at Burfordville

Bollinger Mill State Historic Site gives Cape Girardeau County a rural historic anchor away from the city riverfront. It shows why old mills mattered. Moving water could run machinery. Farmers could bring grain. Travelers still needed a bridge across the Whitewater River.

Missouri State Parks says visitors can learn how wheat and corn were ground into flour and meal in a massive four-story mill from the Civil War era. Right beside it is the Burfordville Covered Bridge. The state parks page says it is one of four covered bridges that remain in Missouri.
