Cape Girardeau city has its own ward map
The city of Cape Girardeau has a local-government layer that is separate from Cape Girardeau County. The city mayor and council page points residents to a ward map, and the city’s downloadable maps page includes ward-district and voting-precinct maps.
That is useful for anyone who lives inside the city limits. A sidewalk, city service, zoning, business license, or council question may belong to the city ward and city hall, not to the county courthouse in Jackson.
For a newcomer, the ward map also explains why “Cape Girardeau County” and “Cape Girardeau city” are not interchangeable. One address can sit inside city representation, county offices, school districts, and other local layers at the same time.
