Camden County treats gravel roads differently in winter
Camden County's winter road plan separates asphalt and gravel roads, including grader work for gravel roads after deeper snow.
Winter driving in Camden County is not only a highway question. The county Road and Bridge page links to an inclement winter weather plan, and that plan treats asphalt and gravel roads differently. It says graders are sent out once 3 or more inches of snow has accumulated on gravel roads, and that salt cannot be used on gravel roads because of what it does to the roadbed when temperatures rise above freezing.
For residents on lake-area coves, rural routes, or gravel approaches, that means the road surface can change the response. Check whether your road is county-maintained, private, city-maintained, or a state route. Use Camden County Road and Bridge for county roads and the MoDOT Traveler Information Map for numbered and lettered highways.
