Butler County personal property can start online

Butler County links residents to online personal-property assessment filing, but the assessor remains the office for what should be listed.

Before a Butler County driver can get the right tax receipt, the personal property has to be on the right assessment record. The county offers online personal-property assessment filing for that first part of the errand.

Use the assessor side when the question is what belongs on the county roll: vehicles, trailers, boats, machinery, or other taxable personal property. The Collector comes later for bills, payments, and receipts.

This split matters for new residents and households that added or sold a vehicle. A paid receipt can only prove the tax record that actually exists. If you are not sure whether to file online, start with the county assessment link and call the Assessor before guessing.
