St. Joseph's parkway system is a National Register-listed civic landscape that connects major parks and recreation areas across the city.
St. Joseph’s identity is not only river, rail, and museums. The city’s parkway system is its own piece of civic geography. Missouri State Parks’ National Register list includes the St. Joseph Park and Parkway System, running along several parkways and Noyes Boulevard from Krug Park to Hyde Park. The city’s parks department describes the National Register-listed system as roughly 1,500 acres and 26 miles of parkways and boulevards containing 48 parks and related facilities, and its trails page lists the Parkway System with a hike-and-bike trail map.
