Boone County tax payments use the right account number

The collector's payment guidance separates owner numbers for personal property from parcel numbers for real estate and district taxes.

Two Boone County tax bills can ask for two different numbers. Personal property tax uses the owner number. Real estate, neighborhood improvement district, community improvement district, and levee district bills use the parcel number.

That is easy to miss because the Collector handles both kinds of bills. A vehicle tax receipt and a house tax bill may sit under the same county office, but they are not tracked in the same way.

If you are paying through a bank system or searching online, match the number to the bill type before sending money. Save the receipt or confirmation after payment. The goal is simple recordkeeping: the right number helps the county apply the money to the right account.
