Benton County personal property starts with Jan. 1
Benton County's Assessor says taxable real and personal property is tracked as of Jan. 1, and personal property lists are due by March 1.
January 1 decides the first personal-property question in Benton County. The Assessor values taxable real and personal property as of that date, and the personal-property return is due back by March 1.
That timing helps new residents avoid a common wrong turn. If you lived in Benton County on January 1, assess there. If you moved in after January 1, assess in the county where you lived on that date, then give Benton County your address for next year’s mailing.
Vehicles follow the same date logic. You list what you owned on January 1, not every car or trailer bought and sold later in the year. When the plate-renewal errand depends on a paid tax receipt, it pays to have the assessment year sorted out first.
