Barry County's assessor values real and personal property

Barry County's assessor site says the office values tangible real and personal property, making it the starting point for assessment questions.

Cassville’s Barry County Courthouse at 700 Main Street has separate tax jobs under one roof. The Barry County Assessor values tangible real and personal property. Real property is the land-and-building side. Personal property is the movable side, such as the vehicles and equipment that show up on assessment lists.

A tax bill can feel like the place to fix everything, but the bill is downstream from the value record. If a name, parcel, vehicle, or value looks wrong, the Assessor is the earlier stop. The Collector comes in when the question is payment, a tax statement, or a receipt.

That office split saves a lot of backtracking. Land records, assessed value, and paid taxes are connected, but they are not the same record.
